     A Prologue
     I rode into town in the wind on the Ventura Highway. It was the 101 back then. It led to LA, which was still Los Angeles at the time. I'd put my previous life behind me by the time I reached Ventura Highway. My plan was to go to LA. There was someplace I had to see, and after that, I had no plan. I'd figure it out as I went along.
     I had my last paycheck in my pocket. I had a pair of socks and a change of underwear in my kit.
     What else did a young man need?
     I wasn't running away from home at twenty, but I was on the run.
     I wanted to find a rainbow to see what's over there. I would go to the furthest horizon to see what I could see.
     I grew up in a tiny town. I was off to see what the world was all about.
